The advent of the COVID-19 pandemic has radically transformed the educational landscape, propelling higher education institutions into an unfamiliar virtual terrain.
In this context, communication within university classrooms has found an unexpected ally in Google Meet, offering a window to academic continuity in times of physical distancing.
This study, conducted by researchers from the University of Alicante, delves into the depths of this forced shift, exploring how videoconferencing has become an essential pillar in maintaining the educational bond between teachers and students.
Through the analysis of the experiences of 52 Primary Education Degree students, a scenario of adaptation and challenge is revealed, where the effectiveness of Google Meet is put to the test.
The aim is twofold: to identify the communication needs of students in this new era of virtual teaching and to assess this tool's capacity to meet them.
The results not only shed light on the students' satisfaction level with this improvised modality but also raise critical issues regarding the preparedness and response of universities to future crises.
