The Transformative Role of AI in Training Future Teachers

This article offers a critical reflection on how training in Artificial Intelligence (AI) can facilitate a more inclusive and adaptive education, preparing educators to use advanced technologies in their future classrooms.

The ability of AI to personalize learning and adapt to the individual needs of students makes it an invaluable tool in the training of future professionals.

This paper explores the implementation of AI as an educational resource during the initial teacher training phase, focusing on a course at the University of Extremadura.

Through virtual training, this study analyzed how 76 future teachers expanded their knowledge about AI while enrolled in the ICT Applied to Education course in the Early Childhood Education degree.

Using a mixed-methods research approach, this study examined the perceptions and experiences of participants through ad hoc questionnaires and the analysis of their digital portfolios.

Preliminary results suggest that students perceive AI as having a positive influence on learning and feel empowered to design educational resources with appropriate academic support.

This finding underscores the need for deeper integration of AI into teacher training curricula, to align education with the demands of the fourth industrial revolution and its implications for the future of work and social interaction.
