Continuous and Dialogic Feedback Significantly Enhances Learning in Virtual Environments

The transition towards an educational model that emphasizes continuous and formative assessment faces persistent challenges, especially in the realm of online feedback.

This article, authored by Anna Espasa Roca and Teresa Guasch Pascual from the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya, explores innovative methods to increase student engagement with feedback in virtual environments.

Through a quasi-experimental design, the research assesses how the reworking of academic assignments, guided by formative comments, can enhance active student participation and improve their learning process.

The study highlights the current paradox: while the need for formative feedback is widely recognized as fundamental for higher education, its effective use by students remains limited.

The authors address this gap with a proposal that not only aims to increase interaction with feedback but also attempts to demonstrate its direct impact on the quality of learning, shedding light on how specific intervention strategies can be effectively integrated into online pedagogical practices.
