Features and Advantages of Microlearning Strategy Design

The article "Microlearning Strategy Design Features in Educational Settings: A Systematic Review" presents an in-depth investigation into microlearning (ML) as a formative strategy in higher education.

This study systematically reviews the literature to identify the advantages and disadvantages of using ML, the predominant design characteristics of this type of content, and the areas of knowledge where it has had the most impact.

Using a rigorous methodological approach, the authors analyzed research published between 2018 and 2021, selected from the Scopus and Web of Science databases.

The findings highlight that microlearning provides an agile strategy for professional training, especially useful for introductory or basic topics, and helps reduce students' cognitive load. However, limitations were also identified, such as its limited effectiveness in developing complex skills and the lack of peer interaction strategies.

The areas with the greatest incidence of microlearning include health, education, and engineering. In terms of design, microlearning content is typically structured into an introduction, microcontent, and questions, with a special emphasis on the use of educational videos.
