How do university students perceive the use of smartphones in teaching and learning?

In an increasingly digitalized world, mobile devices, particularly smartphones, have become essential tools for education, especially in Higher Education contexts.

This article, based on research conducted at UNAN-Managua, Nicaragua, analyzes how smartphones are being integrated into teaching and learning processes, exploring students' perceptions of their use, benefits, and challenges in an academic setting.


The research, which surveyed 525 students from various faculties, reveals that smartphones facilitate access to information and communication between students and teachers and also enhance academic management and autonomous learning. However, significant challenges are also identified, such as technological dependency and the need for specific training to maximize the educational use of these devices.

This study provides a comprehensive view of the impact of mobile learning in Higher Education in Nicaragua, highlighting the importance of adapting teaching methodologies to new digital realities.
